Rules
Hello and welcome to Sherwood General! We ask that you follow these simple rules in order to ensure a safe and friendly community. If you feel as though a rule is unfair or have further questions, contact an administrator through PM. The staff of this site reserve the right to modify these rules at any time without prior notice.
Spam
1. Posting very short posts, posts out of context, and posts getting off topic is not allowed.
2. Double posting is not allowed unless a 24 hour period has gone by without a new reply.
3. Flooding the site with messages is forbidden.
4. The Fun Zone allows topics that would otherwise be seen as spam. Topics must have somewhat of a point, spamming is only allowed if the topic allows it. Otherwise, please stay on topic!
5. You may only post in an old topic if the information is quite relevant (or an update of information, etc). You may not post in an old topic if the post is spam or has very little point.
Respect
1. Flaming is forbidden (sending negative messages to other members - being offensive)
2. Excessive profanity is not allowed.
3. Foul language is only allowed at a minimum. Small words can be let go of; however, excessive swearing is not allowed.
4. Racism is strictly forbidden. There will be no insults based on gender, race, or ethnicity. All members are treated equal and must be respected.
5. Posts meant to hurt another member are not allowed; obscene and/or inflammatory posts are not allowed.
6. Disrespect of the staff is not allowed. If you have an issue with a staff member's decision, PM the staff member or an administrator.
7. Disrespect of our members is not allowed. If you have an issue with a member, PM the staff.
Content
1. Pornography is strictly forbidden. There will be no images, text, videos, or sound files that relate to pornography in any manner. This includes but is not limited to sexually based content, content that relates to or shows images of sexual areas of the body or anything sexually related, and content that talks about in any form sexual areas of the body or sexually related content.
2. Warez (Illegally downloaded software, cracked software) is not allowed by any means.
3. There will be no linking to the above illegal content (no matter what site it's in) in any part of the site.
4. Advertisement of sites is only allowed in the website review section. If you are linking to a site that isn't yours, the rule will vary based on context.
5. Signatures may not be so long that every time you post, you cause the need to scroll another mile down the page to get by the signature. Try to limit the amount of images in the signature, as some people have a slower internet connection (it takes a lot of time to load all of those images for some.)
6. Content posted in a language other than English must be accompanied with an English translation.
*Note: Foul language is frowned upon and intense foul language is forbidden; however, if specific media (mostly videos) contains foul language, you may still post but put a warning message above the media.
Privacy
1. No member is allowed to infringe upon anyone's privacy. Users may not give out personal information of another member without that member's permission.
2. Any conversations, pictures, videos, or other types of media in a private setting may not be posted in a public setting without consent of all members involved.
3. Members may not post any information or applications that risk lessening another member's security or privacy.
Rights of Staff
1. All staff members reserve the right to modify, delete, move, or alter posts as they feel necessary.
2. The administrator reserves the right to use consequences such as banning when necessary.
3. The administrator reserves the right to log another member's account for purposes such as troubleshooting and detecting errors.
4. Staff members are allowed to speak in any language they desire. If this language is not English, please post an English translation (as this is an English site).
5. Staff members reserve the right to take moderation action in any situation where they feel it is necessary to do so, regardless of whether it is covered in the rules or not, in order to keep our community safe and prevent abuse. These rules may be modified without prior notice.
6. Staff members may not use their moderation abilities unless necessary to. Abuse of power is strictly forbidden.
Rights of Members
1. All members reserve the right to speak their opinion freely while respecting the community and following our rules.
2. All members reserve the right to speak out against a staff member's decision as they feel necessary.
3. Members are not required to pay for any services given by this site.
4. Members are allowed only one account. Making multiple accounts is forbidden. (Exceptions may be given, please contact the staff if needed.)
5. Members are allowed to speak in any language they desire. If this language is not English, please post an English translation.
Reputation
1. Reputation may not be given to a post for no reason. (You aren't required to type the reason in, but there must be a reason for giving it all the same.)
2. Reputation must be given with a proper reason.
3. Reputation may not be given to one's own post, only posts made by other members.
4. A max of five positive reputation points may be given per day.
5. A max of one negative reputation point may be given per day.
6. Reputation must be given (with proper reason) to posts that deserve a reputation, not posts with no helpful content or information that contributes to our site.
Other
1. Back seat moderating is frowned upon (although not illegal.) If you notice a reason for a post to be moderated, please use the report this post to a moderator feature, or use the PM system.
2. Impersonation of another member or attempt to impersonate another member is forbidden.
3. Linking to other sites (as a method of advertisement) is allowed only in the appropriate section (that being the website section). Links are also allowed in your signature. Exceptions to this rule may exist depending on the situation.
4. Multiple accounts are not allowed - please only use one account. Multiple accounts are subject to suspension, ban, deletion, or any other consequences.
NOTE: When people on the same network join (be it a brother, sister, or friend who uses the same network), they WILL be treated as multiple accounts if the IP matches. Any actions done with these accounts will be treated as if they are performed by one person owning all accounts. These accounts are liable to be banned or suspended. These accounts, regardless, are NOT allowed to give reputation to each other.
5. Using an image with pornography or any content that violates our site rules as your profile background is prohibited.
6. Proxies are NOT ALLOWED here at Sherwood General. You may not register via proxy, post via proxy, or perform any other action on the site via proxy. The only exception is if you send a staff member a PM beforehand explaining why you must use a proxy.
Shoutbox Rules
1. Flooding the shoutbox is prohibited. This includes but is not limited to posting messages at a fast rate (while still following the flood limit), or posting a large amount of messages before another reply is made.
2. Images are allowed but they must be small enough to where they will not break the shoutbox layout and cause annoyance to other members.
3. All rules listed in the "Spam" section (above) apply to the shoutbox (emphasized above) with the following exceptions:
•Double posting is allowed, but not to the point of flooding the shoutbox.
4. All rules listed in the "Respect" section (above) apply to the shoutbox.
5. All rules listed in the "Content" section (above) apply to the shoutbox with the following exceptions:
•A member may talk in any language he or she desires without an English translation in the shoutbox; however, all rules must still be followed.
6. All members' and staffs' rights apply to the shoutbox with the following exceptions:
•Any language may be spoken on the shoutbox without an English translation, as long as site rules are followed.
Violation of these rules will result in a consequence determined by the situation.
